Homework 1

P1.2, P1.8, P2.4 (add the answer to the "what happens" question as a comment), P2.10, Project 2.2

Rules of engagement for homework assignments:

• Homework is individual work. No buddies, no helpers.
• Name your source files P1_2.java, P1_8.java, P2_4.java, P2_10.java, Project2_2.java. That means, the class names must be P1_2, P1_8, etc.
  
• Put your source files (and only your source files) into a directory hw1_xyzw where xyzw are the last four digits of your student number (not your social security number). For example, if your student number is 123-45-6789, then use
  

  hw1_6789

  as the directory name. Don't be like some of your clueless colleagues who actually use hw1_xyzw or hw1_6789 (unless, of course, your student ID ends in 6789). Replace these numbers with your student number. If you don't, I need to look up your student number, which gives me an opportunity to remember your name in an unfavorable context.
  
• Zip up that directory into a zip file hw1_xyzw.zip (where, of course, xyzw is the last four digits of your student number--you knew that...)
  
• Email your homework to horstmann@cs.sjsu.edu with a Subject line such as

  CS46A Homework 1 John Q. Public

  with the appropriate homework #, and name. Use your name, of course, not John Q. Public—unless you happen to be John Q. Public. This doesn't sound too difficult, but, amazingly enough, every semester, a few of your clueless colleagues use John Q. Public anyway. (I need your actual name because so many of you have set up your mail programs with strange names, and I don't want to have to guess who of you is "Pokemon Avenger #7")
  Please note: Do not include CS46A Homework in your Subject: line if you send me a question about your homework. Any mail with the Homework subject is automatically filtered into a special mail folder, and I may not look at it until I grade the homework, perhaps many days or weeks after you sent it. Instead, if you send me an email about the course, start your subject line with CS151 Question.
  

Oops...I made a mistake when scoring your homework assignments. The score "[SCORE] Explain Overlap x (max 3)" was not added in. (It was my stupidity--the scoring program added the third string of each line that starts with [SCORE], and in this line it should have taken the fourth string, or better, the first number.) I fixed my program to compute the correct scores and updated my spreadsheet, but I didn't email them. Please add the score of that problem to your [TOTAL]. Thanks to Elias Aseged for pointing this out!
